The genre of this poem is nonfiction children's poetry book.

Poetry, especially children's poetry has always been inspiring and encouraging to me. Simple words in a structured order hold so much meaning and connect the reader to literature. The poems included in this book are educational while entertaining. It allows kids to develop their reading skills with rhyming poems. It also allows them to learn about multiple types of bugs. My favorite poem from the book was "Go, Ants, Go!" In this poem the insects are described as hard working, using sounds to describe their movement.

The illustrator used many different elements of art to engage the reader and being the words to life. The is the presence of watercolor while also using texture/depth. The pictures portray bright colors of the insects and plants. The shapes are loose, and the lines draw the reader across the page on to the next poem.
